Hussain Ali led in all the three stages of 34kms, 32kms and 16kms respectively and said the excellent condition of his horse made the difference. Hussain Ali, who averaged 26.04 kmph for the 82 km distance said he was confident after the end of the first stage.

"After 34kms I was delighted with the horse's condition as her heart beat rate was very low despite a good speed. I knew then that I could win today's ride," said Hussain Ali, who was taking part in his fourth ride having finished 5th once earlier.

A student of Arab Unity School in Al Aweer, Hussain Ali said he is very passionate about horses and riding.

"Every day I am off on a horse after I complete my homework. I like riding and I get a lot of support from my father and my trainer Saeed Mohammed Al Kamda," said the winner.

Mansour Ali Sulaiman Al Shamsi on Faras Al Jazirah came up with one of the fastest final loop speed but his 33.35 kmph still found him short of the winner by a little under a minute.

But the effort helped him pip both Jordan's Mahmood Hashim R Saleh on Alandell Hoodini and Sheikh Abdullah bin Faisal Al Qassimi on Atbegir Baywatch.

The three riders finished within four seconds of each other to end their effort on an exciting note.
