Solari key to Adnoc Distribution win of the fifth HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Polo Cup   Print  E-mail
Solari scored six goals to give ADNOC full points in this three-team league-cum-knockout championship with hosts Ghantoot being the other team.

The first two chukkas of this four-chukka encounter at the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club was a close contest but ADNOC, who were served well by their two UAE players Ali Al Marri and Khalifa Al Hammadi.

Al Marri in particular had one of his best games here in Ghantoot as he opened ADNOC's scoring and later added two more goals to end up with three goals for the first time.

But it was ADNOC's Argentine pro Carlos Solari who once again excelled with some classy strikes and penalty conversions.

Al Marri, Solari and Miguel Delia scored in the opening chukka but Al Basti's two pros Juan Jose Araya and Carlos Mayon also scored to end the first chukka with ADNOC ahead 3-2.

Solari scored two early goals in the second chukka but ADNOC's three-goal lead was soon reduced when once again Mayon and Araya struck late in the same chukka.

Abdulla bin Dasmal, the hero of Al Basti's Ghantoot Gold Cup triumph the made it 5-5 in the third chukka. But two goals by Solari and a good field goal by Ali Al Marri put ADNOC in the driver's seat.

Al Marri scored again in the final chukka and soon the other UAE player Khalifa Al Hammadi also scored to make it 10-5. Solari completed the scoring before Abdulla bin Dasmal pulled one back for Al Basti.
