Clive Brittain's
$2,000,000 UAE Derby (Gr.II) contender Menhoubah was out on the Nad Al Sheba
turf track yesterday morning along with Warrsan, who runs in the US$2,000,000
Dubai Sheema Classic (Gr.I), sponsored by The Palm.
The pair cantered on
the turf outside the markers, which were placed 15 metres out, increasing the
tempo approaching the straight, they were clocked at 36.02s for the final 600
metres, according to an ERA press release.Earlier in the morning the
Japanese challengers were out on the track, the Hiroyoshi Matsuda-trained Admire
Don, who runs in the US$6,000,000 Dubai World Cup (Gr.I), worked on the main Nad
Al Sheba track and was clocked at 46.3s over 800 metres, covering the final 400
metres in 22.79s.
Also working on the main track was the Hitoshi
Nakamura-trained Meiner Select, who will fly the flag for Japan in the
US$2,000,000 Dubai Golden Shaheen (Gr.I), sponsored by Gulf News and run over
the straight 1,200 metres. Meiner Select, a son of Forty Niner, picked up the
pace on his second lap of the track and covered the final 400 metres in a time
of 25.34s.
The Tony Cruz-trained Multidandy worked on the main track and
covered the 800 metres in 49.3s with the final 400 metres being caught by the
clockers at 22.79s.
Paolini, trained by Andreas Wohler, aims to go one
better than his runner-up position in last year's US$2,000,000 Dubai Duty Free
(Gr.I). The seven-year-old son of Lando, worked on the turf along with the
Dermot Weld-trained Evolving Tactics, the pair were clocked at 36.86s for the
final 600 metres.
Pleasantly Perfect, the Richard Mandella-trained
Breeders' Cup Classic (Gr.I) winner was out stretching his legs and looked
awesome as he stood in front of the assembled trackwork watchers as the sun rose
over Nad Al Sheba. Under work rider Crystal Brown, Pleasantly Perfect had an
easy canter around the track.
Disputing favouritism with Mandella's
six-year-old is the Bobby Frankel-trained Donn Handicap (Gr.I) winner Medaglia
d'Oro, who will be partnered by four-time Dubai World Cup winner Jerry Bailey in
the world's richest race. Medaglia d'Oro had an easy canter on the main track
yesterday morning.
Of the other American's out having an easy exercise
were Domestic Dispute, the mount of Gary Stevens in the Dubai World Cup (Gr.I),
the Dubai Golden Shaheen (Gr.I) challengers Our New Recruit, trained by John
Sadler, and the Todd Pletcher-trained Alke. |
