Book on endurance racing was released in Dubai. The book, sponsored by Damas, goes on sale in the UAE today, includes a section dedicated to the leadership of Shaikh Zayed in reviving equestrianism in this region. Published by Media Prima, Endurance: The Sport of Shaikhs is the only book tracing the development of the sport in the UAE and the impact of the Maktoum and Nahyan families upon this traditional Arab pursuit. Media Prima is a London and Dubai-based publishing company. Distributed in the UAE by Dar Al Hikma, Endurance: The Sport of Shaikhs includes a 12-page section dedicated to the late UAE President.
“We came across this old image in an archive and were stunned as there are all too few photographs of Shaikh Zayed in the saddle. Although he was an accomplished horseman and loved horses, there are all too few photographs of the late UAE President in this area,” stated Elie Moukarzel, operations manager for Media Prima.
This 174-page hardback brings to life the eminent careers of some of the UAE’s leading riders, including General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. All will be part of the UAE team at the World Endurance Championships.
The title also encompasses a detailed history section, sections on the UAE’s three endurance venues — Dubai Endurance City, Emirates International Endurance Village and Boudthib Endurance Village.
Marrouchi added that a print run of some 20,000 copies will make this the highest print run of any hardback book in the UAE this year. |
