Page 1 of 2 As was expected by the experts, Big Easy completed a hat-trick of wins in the Dh150,000 Al Ruwais sprint. Trainer Satish Seemar and jockey Ted Durcan completed a smart double last night. It was an awesome display by the 8-year-old son of Burning Sands as he easily
demolished the 14-horse field to notch up his 15th career win. In fact, the
Satish Seemar-trained Big Easy has been out of the top-three just once in 24
starts.
This victory marks his third successive win of this season, having won
twice on the dirt tracks in Nad Al Sheba.
The win also completed a double for Seemar and Durcan who had earlier
combined to win on Dormila.
Big Easy's margin of victory was nearly four lengths from the Jaber
Bittar-trained Basilic De Gazal [Seamus O'Gormon up] with Fine Fellow [Willie
Supple up] in third.
The first race saw Brazilian jockey Francisco Da Silva steer the Mussabah Al
Muhairi-trained Al Mushammar to a win in the first of the two maiden races
slated for the night.
While the favourite AF Malika finished fifth, Al Mushammar and Zulal were
involved in the battle with the Da Silva mount doing well in the final 100
metres.
In the Lulu Island conditions race, Seniorita's withdrawal left stable jockey
Ted Durcan to choose Dormila, which was to be ridden by Ryan Moore.
With a quality field, including the highly-rated Kinana [Gary Hind up]
and the Dutch challenger Moza in her UAE debut, Dormila came up with a fine
finish.
The seven-year-old bay mare and Julian Smart's Mascha Al Mels [Richard Mullen
up] were involved in a close tussle which finally went to Dormila. A neck
separated the two to give the Seemar-Durcan combine their first win of the night
in this third race.
Richard Hills partnered the son of Kesberoy to a fine win in the handicap
race over the mile with Bakhit Al Ketbi's Dormanor finishing second.
