Trainer Paddy Rudkin scored his first double of the current season at yesterday's race meet at the Jebel Ali Race Course, sponsored by Emirates airline.

The feature event of the afternoon was won by Erwan Charpy's Elmonjed who followed up his win in Nad Al Sheba with another smart win yesterday, this time Willie Supple on board.

The seven-year-old son of Gulch was the third favourite behind Quicknap and Restructured. But once he was brought to the front midway through the 6-furlong race, Elmonjed kept lengthening his strides to complete a dominant display for trainer Charpy.

Earlier, it was the top weight Valdancer which gave Rudkin his second win of the afternoon after Tri Another Cat opened the trainer's account with a stunning win in the second race.

Gary Hind on Valdancer was way back of the field as they headed for the home stretch. But the five-year-old son of Groom Dancer, despite the extra weight seemed to relish the drop in class. Having lost by less than a length to Better Mix in Nad Al Sheba, Valdancer fetched his second win here at Jebel Ali. Valdancer finished powerfully up the hill to finish ahead of a duo of runners from Rod Simpson's yard.

In the second race of the afternoon, Tri Another Cat came up with a searing run under John Carroll to overturn his poor displays in his earlier three starts. The five-year-old son of Forest Wildcat won the maidens event by over three lengths.

Doug Watson's Djelmane (Richard Hills up) obliged the Pick Six fans by living up to his favourite status. After top weight Jawad Al Kheir had done all the early running, Hills rode Djelmane to a neat win, the horse's second win here. The Mazin Al Kurdi-trained Blazing Ability won the Arabian Adventures Handicap with Chris Avery on board the winning horse. The El Prado son had finished eighth in his last start here but did very well to negotiate some mid-race traffic to finally win with much to spare.
