First Gulf Bank to sponsor Cup race   Print  E-mail
The First Gulf Bank announced a sponsorship package of nearly Dh700,000 for Sunday’s National Day Cup race meeting here at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (ADEC).

The six-race card include the first Pattern races of the new season for both Purebred Arabians and thoroughbreds, and is one of the longest (1992) established meetings in the Emirates racing calendar of events.

The National Day Gold Cup for Arabians for a total pure of Dh250,000 is of Group-I status and the thoroughbred equivalent for Dh150,000 is of Listed status. The six-race card also include the newly established Abu Dhabi Classic for three-year-old fillies bred in the UAE, a Prestige race for a purse of Dh100,000.

ADEC’s racing manager Pat Buckley said it was the First Gulf Bank’s third sponsorship of an Abu Dhabi meeting and looked forward to their support in the future. “The Fillies Classic on Sunday and next week’s Colts Classic is a great incentive for the local breeders. The two feature races have drawn some of the best in the country and we look forward to an exciting contest for the first pattern races of the new season,” said Buckley.

“The other three races on the card are no less exciting. The racegoers will have an opportunity to win Dh25,000 in cash from the pick six competition and also have an opportunity to win valuable prizes from the raffle drawn on the same coupons that are distributed free at the entrance,” he added.
