Firebreak stopped the teletimer in 1:34.60 over a turf course rated good to firm. The Duke came up for third while Durandal, Japan’s champion sprinter and miler in 2003, could do no better than fifth.

Kentucky-bred Antonius Pius, second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) at Lone Star Park on October 30, finished 11th in the 14-horse field.

"He has run okay today, but he has had a long season and he just flattened out," said Jamie Spencer, jockey of Antonius Pius.
Bred in England by R. P. Williams, Firebreak entered off a one-length win in the Challenge Stakes (Eng-G2) at Newmarket on October 16 and successfully defended his title in the Godolphin Mile (UAE-G2) this season when triumphed by 4½ lengths at Nad al Sheba on March 27.

Out of the winning Song mare Breakaway, Firebreak has now won nine of 22 career starts.
