Rashid Mohammed Al Rumaithi from the Emirates Heritage (EHC) worked off a fine combination with his horse Assala to claim top honours in two categories on the opening day of the UAE Euqestrian Federation Show Jumping Competition held at the Jebel Ali Equestrian Club late on Wednesday.
Al Rumaithi took the title in the C2 Class 2 competition and then clinched the honours in the more demanding C1 Class 3 contest aboard the same horse. Both classes were sponsored by GAC. In the C2 competition, riders were required to do one round against the clock on a maximum hurdle height of 105 cms. Whereas in the C1 competition, riders had to clear a maximum height of 110 cms.
And while Al Rumaithi hogged the limelight in both the contests, lurking behind him in his shadow was Ajman Equestrian Centre's Majed Al Marzouqi on his horse, Cheyenne. Similar was the case of Sharjah Equestrian Club's Abdul Rehman Al Ka'abi as he took third places in both the competitions.
Al Ka'abi took the third place aboard Untouchable Van De Zuuthoeve in the C2 competition, while he rode Island La Gravelle in the C1 contest.
JAEC's Catherine Stewart took the top spot aboard Shurook in the C3 clear round competition with a maximum height of 95 cms.
Following her in second place was SERC's Julie Taylor atop Kitab, while the host club's Eric Uchoa was placed third on top of Shaheen.
